A marriage register entry for the District of Bothwell in the County of Lanark tells us that on Friday, July 8, 1892, at Hamiltons Land, Main Street, Bothwell, Alice's father, 49-year-old widower Alexander McDonald, a teacher in a public school, married 32-year-old spinster Jane Inglis, a housekeeper, after banns according to the forms of the Free Church of Scotland. The register entry also informs us that groom Alexander lived at 21 Hayburn Crescent, Patrick; his father was shepherd Ronald McDonald (deceased) and his mother was Christian McDonald (deceased), formerly McFarlane. Furthermore, bride Jane lived at 21 Hayburn Crescent, Patrick; her father was mason (journeyman) Robert Inglis (deceased) and her mother was Barbara Inglis, formerly Syme. JA Fletcher, Minister of The Free Church Bothwell, performed the ceremony, witnessed by Robert Renwick and Kate Inglis. The marriage was reported in Bothwell on Saturday, July 9, 1892, to William McRobb.
The Scottish Census enumerated Alice on Sunday, March 31, 1901, in the County of Lanark, Registration District of Partick, Enumeration District Number 43. According to her entry on Page 12, Schedule 54 of the archive, she was at 21 Hayburn Crescent on the census night.
