Biography

Lena was born 8 Mar 1875 in Ellington, South Carolina. She was the daughter of George McElhenny and Isabelle Philpot.[1]

In 1880 she lived at 237 Broad Street in Augusta, Richmond, Georgia with her grandparents, her uncle, her mother, and her siblings.[2]

In 1900 she lived at 425 Taylor Street with her first husband Ernest George Strauss and her mother-in-law and her children. She could read and write. [3]

In 1910 she lived on Taylor Street in Augusta, Richmond, Georgia with her second husband Adrian Boyd Lee,their daughter and the two children from her first marriage. Living with them were her mother, her sister and her two nephews.[4]

In 1920 she lived on Walton Way in Augusta, Richmond, Georgia with her husband and children. [5]

In 1930 she lived at 1809 Walton Way in Augusta, Richmond, Georgia with her husband, children, and grandchildren.[6]

In 1940 she lived at 1809 Walton Way in Augusta, Richmond, Georgia with her mother and children. She owned the house. Highest grade completed is eighth grade.[7]

In 1950 she lived in Augusta, Richmond, Georgia with two of her children.[8]

She passed away 13 Jun 1966 in Augusta, Richmond, Georgia.[9] She is buried in Section 10 at Westover Memorial Park in Augusta, Richmond, Georgia,[1]
