Rachel McElhose was born on May 02, 1838 in Ireland.^[1][2] She did not marry or have children. She died on December 12, 1888 from paralysis in Sumter, Sumter, South Carolina, United States.^[3] her body was taken to Charleston, South Carolina for burial at Magnolia Cemetery.^[4]
