Biography
She married Jonathan Newman around 1790 in York County, SC where she was likely born and raised.
She can be found in McCracken County, Kentucky in the 1830 census apparently as a widow. She is in the 50-60 age group, with 4 sons and 3 daughters.[1]
According to family tradition she is buried in Fountain Run, Barren, Kentucky.
Research Notes
Her brother William McElwee III married Rachel Newman, who is believed to be Jonathan Newman's sister. Most of the information we have on the McElwee's and the Newman's comes from a McElwee family historian, Pinckney Glasgow McElwee.[2]
