Robert was born on 22 Apr 1914 in Lisburn, County Antrim, Northern Ireland. [1] He was the son of William McGeown and Elizabeth Watson. [2]
On 18 Oct 1929 Robert McGeown departed Liverpool, England on board SS Vedic and arrived in Fremantle on 29 November, en route to Sydney then Brisbane to the Salvation Army Training Colony, Riverview, Brisbane. [3] [4]
