In the 1880 census Ailsie (age 28) was the wife of Henry Logan in Beat 3, Lafayette, Mississippi, United States.^[3]

In the 1900 census Alyey (age 45) was the wife of Henry Logan in Beat 3 (part of) Abbeville town, Lafayette, Mississippi, United States.^[4]

In the 1910 census Elsie (age 61) was the wife of Denny Logan in Beat 3, Lafayette, Mississippi, United States.^[5]

In the 1920 census Elsie (enumerated as Elsa) (age 65) was the widowed mother of George Anna Smith in Beat 3, Lafayette, Mississippi, United States.^[6]

Elsie died in 1922 in Lafayette County, Mississippi aged ~73.^[7]

Research Notes

• Assembling Elsie and Henry's children has been tricky. In 1900 she is enumerated as having borne 6 children, with 4 currently living. There are four children present in 1900 -- but there are more than two distinct children spread across the 1870 and 1880 censuses that don't appear in 1900. In 1900, Elsie and Henry have been married for 35 years, which roughly accords with the marriage record, but means the enumerator has to be wrong about the number of children born and/or the number of children living. ... Sure enough, in 1910 she and Henry have been married for 43 years, and had 10 children with 6 living.
• I believe the 1910 census numbers for total and living children are correct. I believe that John Logan and Jack Logan are actually the same person (no record overlap), so there are nine distinct children enumerated across four censuses (1870 to 1910): Leander, Jack, Re Anna, George Anna, Jane, Leanna, Judge, Jennie, and Willie.
• Loula Nelson is Elsie's grandchild. Her parents are unknown.
