Biography
John was born about 1811. John McGrigor ... He passed away about 1880. [1]
Further research has shown the McGrigor was the prferren clan name during period of proscription: This period banned the Clan name McGregor on pain of being "put to the sword and Fire", this punishment was reserved for the male Clansmen- Wives and Children were branded upon the face cheeks and were forever humiliated.
When John McGrigor Married Margaret Cochrane they reverted to the true Clan Name and restored the Clan Name McGregor.
