Biography

Marjorie Jean 'Marge' McGrew was born October 19, 1922 at the McGrew Homestead, Brandonville, West Virginia and is the daughter of Warren McGrew, Sr and Althea Haines. Marjorie grew up in Morgantown, West Virginia^[1] and Grant, West Virginia^[2] with her siblings, Dorothy Louise McGrew, James McGrew, Sr and Warren McGrew, Jr.

Marge married Berne Clifford Adams, Jr August 25, 1950^[3] and they made their home in Mehoopany, Pennsylvania until he died August 24, 2001.^[4] Together they had two children, Berne Clifford Adams, III and Dean Allen Adams. Marge died January 26, 2018 and is buried in Vaughn's Cemetery, Mehoopany, Pennsylvania.^[5]

Marjorie Jean McGrew Adams, 95, Of Mehoopany, Pennsylvania, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, January 26, 2018. Born in Bruceton Mills, West Virginia, on October 19, 1922. She is the daughter of the late Warren and Althea Haines McGrew.

Marge married the late B. Clifford Adams in 1950. Marge and Cliff moved to Pennsylvania leaving her career as a school teacher. They enjoyed owning a farm and rental properties. They loved having family all around. She was a major part of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren’s lives.

Survived by son Dean A. Adams and wife, Sharon, of Orlando, Florida, daughter in law Karin H. Adams of Mehoopany, Pennsylvania, brother Warren R. McGrew and wife, Kathy, of Spring, Texas. Marge has six grandchildren: Dale C. Adams of Georgia, Berne C. Adams IV and wife, Mae, of Pennsylvania, David M. Adams and wife, Koren, of Georgia, Amanda A. Roskowski and husband, Richard, of Florida, Elizabeth A. Ridall and husband, Joshua, of Pennsylvania, Rebecca A. Aten and husband, Timothy, of Pennsylvania. 17 great grandchild. Also surviving are nieces and nephews.

Marge is proceeded in death by Sister Dorothy L. Boulet, Brother James S. McGrew, and son Berne C. Adams Jr.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday January 30th at 11:00 AM from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, Inc. 73 West Tioga Street, Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania 18657. Interment will be in Vaughn Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Monday evening from 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home.

• Nieman Clan History compiled by Helen Marie (Newcomer) Maust. Aunt Helen attended most all the Nieman Family Reunions and the Frankhouser Family Reunions. She gathered information from family members who attended the Reunions over the years sharing information about family lore and updated information about each branch. Around 1980 she put information together by typewriter and created a very large document that included all of the information about the Nieman and Frankhouser clans. Both branches intertwined in various ways and trace back to the common ancestors of John Blosser who emigrated from Switzerland and was of German origin.
