Biography

John McKenna was my mother (Bridget's) father. His Marriage Certificate to Annie Clements states that his parents were Patrick McKenna & Hannah Conrey. Patrick was a seaman in the Royal Navy. Hannah a housewife. It does not say whether John was born in Scotland or Ireland. John and Annie had 12 children. Some have said he was born in Ireland and brought to Scotland to be raised by relatives and other children say he was born in Scotland. As of today I have not found a birth Certificate for him but his Birth year seems to be 1873. He has lived in Cambuslang and Uddingston, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Death was in 1957 in Uddingston, Scotland. His occupation was coal mining.

I met my grand father for the first time , when he was 75 years old. He came to America to visit his daughters .

He was a short slim man with white hair. He reminded me of a leprichan. He was very active and would take a walk every day. We enjoyed his visit very much.

It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:
