In his book "A Story of Many Maine McKenny Families" Ora Herbert McKenney Jr. pointed out: "Three McKenney brothers married three Peables sisters. Henry Jr. married Jane, Jonathan married Anne, and Eleazer married Diana."
research notes: Most sources put William's birth at about 1782 (some at 1794), which doesn't fit here for a lot of reasons. If the gravestone is correct in giving the age of 68 then this connection may be all wrong. Please exercise caution with this suggested link; it is not clear at all. O. Herbert McKenney Jr., in his book on the McKenneys, makes no attempt to give William a father or mother. Henry II is the only person in the area of the right age. I believe he is a son of Henry II. The 1820 census of Canaan lists a William McKenney with the right number in the household; William was listed as being over 45 in 1820 (at least it looks that way), so he could not have been born later than 1775 (making my suggested date of 1770 very possible); meaning the gravestone is either wrong or the William we're looking at in the Caanan census is not the same William who married Ruth Douglas. Albion is very close to Clinton, Canaan is also close. Williams wife is from Albion and his early children are recorded as being born in Canaan. There were McKenneys of Henry's family marrying people from, and moving to, both locations. So this William was in the right area at the right time to be related to Henry II. If Albion is the correct birthplace, if my birth date is right, and if this William is Henry II's son, it may tell us where Henry II lived before settling in Winslow (a lot of ifs I know). The names and dates of the children listed come from "A Story of Many Maine McKenney Families" by O. Herbert McKenney Jr., Pp.187-88.
