Note

I grew up always knowing that Dad was proud of all his family. He always told me if I was willing to work hard enough, I could obtain anything in life I wanted. Dad was really good in Math and helped me gain understanding in Math. One time I had a bad start that year in Math and Dad sat down with me. After that I never had any more problems.
I was always proud of my daddy because he was a war hero, although he seldom spoke of things pertaining to the war. One thing dad did say was that those medals wouldn't even buy a cup of coffee. I guess, when a person has been where he had been, medals weren't considered of value when your looking at life itself.
Dad had a way about him that he could lay down on the couch and snore and still hear the ballgame. We would think he was sleeping so we would turn the channel on the TV. He would quietly lay still and tell us to turn it back.
Often when we were growing up, we would be sent to our rooms at bedtime. We would get up there and begin playing. After Mom yelling several times for us to go to sleep, Dad would appear at the door with strap in hand. After the trashing we would then go to sleep. Mom always said we couldn't sleep without a whipping. We knew with Mom she would yell several times but Dad spoke once and you best bedoing if you knew what was best.
Dad was a happy jolly man. He loved life and enjoyed living to the fullest. He loved to dance and enjoyed the holidays. I've got a picture of Dad dancing with Susan one Christmas.
September 28, 2007: Received school transcript where dad transfered from Keota High School to Spiro
High School.
October 2, 2007 : Received Keota High School Transcript.
October 2, 2007: Found written in Dad's handwriting on the back of one of his pictures where he worked in the CC Camp 1936. Learned in Flower Hill School. In Ca. age ?.
Finally in 2011, Bill & I received his medals from the Army and Mom got to see them before she passed away in 2012. I'll never forget the look on her face, her eyes were mesmerized and she was awe struck and speechless as she stared at them.
