Margaret, daughter of John Maclean and Ann Maclean, was born on 17 September 1826 and baptized on 19 November 1826 in Sculcoates, Yorkshire, England.[1]

In the 1841 census, Margaret Mclean (age 15), Mill Worker, was on Loch Street, Aberdeen West, Aberdeenshire, with her parents and siblings.[2]
