Biography

Thomas Malcom McLeod was born on October 5, 1895, in Newell, Alabama,[1] to William A. McLeod and Nancy E. Johns.

At the 1900 census, Thomas was four years old and living in Pine Hill Precinct, Randolph County, Alabama, with his parents and siblings Celestin, Ollie, Della, John, Grover, Walter, and Eliza.[2]

At the 1910 census, Thomas was living in Pine Hill Precinct with his father and stepmother Balie as well as his siblings Della, John, Grover, Walter, Winnie, Nancy, Willie, and George.[3]

Thomas ("Tommy") married Mary Etta Vise in Cleburne County, Alabama, on August 27, 1918.[4]

The marriage apparently lasted less than two years because at the 1920 census (enumerated in January), the two were living apart. Thomas was living in Pine Hill Precinct with his father and siblings John, Grover, Walter, Winnie, Ophelia, Willie, Monroe, and Woodrow. His marital status was recorded as single.[5] Meanwhile, Etta was living with her father and siblings in Arbacoochee Precinct. She was recorded with her married name, and her marital status was married.[6]

Thomas later married Eleanor Duhl (maiden name Kremitzki} in Wood County, Ohio, on February 22, 1936.[7]

At the 1940 census, Thomas and Eleanor were living in Detroit, Michigan, with Eleanor's son.[8]

At the 1950 census, Thomas and Eleanor were living in Wayne County, Michigan.[9]

Thomas died in Detroit on September 24, 1961.[10] He was buried at the Smyrna Missionary Cemetery in Randolph County, Alabama.[11]
