Alexander was born in 1788. He was the son of Malcolm McMartin and Margaret McIntyre. Martintown Grist Mill was built in 1846 by Alexander McMartin. He also served the community as Justice of the Peace, Sherriff, Member of the Legislature and Lieutenant Colonel in the militia. He passed away in 1853.
