Obituary

Following is the obituary read at the funeral of Mrs. Floy Young which was held in Malvern Sunday, October 20. Eldria Floy McMullin, daughter of L. D. McMullen, was born three miles north of Hastings April 29, 1875 and passed away at her home in Council Bluffs, October 18, 1940 at the age of 65 years, 5 months,, and 19 days. She became a Christian early in life. Her entire life was spent in Mills County, except about two years in Kansas and Council Bluffs. On December 23, 1894, she was united in marriage to George M. Young of Henderson. To this union nine children were born. Her husband and three daughter preceded her in death, her husband dying, December 8, 1928. She leaves to mourn her departure, three sons, three daughters, 14 grandchildren. The children are Levert of Barberton, Ohio, Wilbur of Malvern, Opal Irvin of Randolph, Blanche Coontz of Council Bluffs, and Hazel and Paul at home. Also surviving are three sisters, Clara Pratt of Red Oak, Ida Ruby of Crete, Nebraska, and Euphise Salmons of Emerson. There are a host of relatives and friends who are saddened by her death. She was an affectionate and devoted mother and was loved by all who knew her. Malvern Leader, October 31, 1940. page 10
