Biography

John was born in 1805 in Scotland. Some say he was born 10 Jun 1805 in St. Ninians, Stirlingshire, Scotland, but provide no sources, nor have I been able to locate any.

In 1834, he married Helen (Scobie) McNabb (abt.1807-) in Dunblane, Perthshire[1]. They had five children, and sometime between 1851[2] and 1861, the family immigrated to Canada, settling in Middlesex County in what is now Ontario[3].

In the 1861 census, John (age 52), Farmer, was the married head of household in Dorchester, Middlesex, Canada West.[4] In the 1871 census, John (age 64) was recorded as married in Adelaide, Middlesex North, Ontario.[5]

John died on 21 July 1880 and was buried in West Adelaide Cemetery, Kerwood, Middlesex County, Ontario, Canada.[6]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:

McNabb-1078 and McNab-1082 appear to represent the same person because: The marriage record, which is the only source on McNabb-1078, matches the one for McNab-1082, as does the name of his spouse.
