Bernice (McNair) Picken is buried in Scottish Cemetery, Caledonia, Illinois.

Martha was born in 1896. She was the daughter of Alexander McNair and Margaret Ralston. ^[1]

She married Ralph Picken in 1922. Bernice's sister, Hazel married Ralph's brother, Wilbur.

She passed away in 1985.

Consanguinuity

Ralph and Bernice are fourth cousins once removed. John Huie (Howie) is the third great grandfather of Ralph and the fourth great grandfather of Bernice.

Obituary

PICKEN - Bernice M. Picken, 89, 713 N. Highland Ave., died at 3:03 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, 1985, in North Rockford Convalescent Home after a long illness. Born Sept. 8, 1896, in Caledonia, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander McNair. Lifelong Rockford resident.

Married Ralph M. Picken in Rockford, June 30, 1922. Member First Presbyterian Church, where she was active in various organizations; Rockford Woman's Club; and was volunteer Pink Lady at Rockford Memorial Hospital. Graduated from Rockford High School and National College of Education, Evanston.

Survivors include her husband, Ralph; a son, John M., Rockford; two grandsons, David J. and Doug E., both Rockford; a granddaughter, Mrs. Diane "Libby" Eickhorst, Rockford; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Hazel Picken, Winter Park, Fla.; several nieces and nephews.

Memorial service at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, in First Presbyterian chapel, with the Rev. W. Kent Clise, pastor, officiating. Private interment in Scottish Cemetery, Argyle. Arrangements by BURPEE-WOOD FUNERAL HOME, 420 N. Main St. No visitation. Memorials to the church or North Rockford Convalescent Home. ^[2]
