Biography

Emma was the daughter of Paul McPhail and his first wife, Malinda McLean. Her mother died in 1871, when Emma was about 8.

In 1881, Emma was a teacher in Lot 28. [1]

When Annie Sarah (McLean) Tanton died without children, her nephews and nieces were listed in a LEGAL NOTICE, Commonwealth of Massachusetts Middlesex, ss. Probate Court. Annie Sarah was Malina McLean's sister, and her children were included "estate of Emma B. Stewart, deceased; Colin H. Stewart and Donald O. Stewart, individually and as executors of the will of William A. Stewart".

Emma married William Allan Stewart in 1886 in Zion Church, Charlottetown. [2]
