Research Notes

From records, this Jacob (so far) is NOT proven to be the the son of John McDaniel McDaniel-2341 and Katherine Rogers (though it sure seems he should be). He is not in John's will or land transactions to his children (but probably related as there are numerous land transactions involving people with similar names, in Randolph and Chatham County.)

But from all the transactions between Jacob and Samuel, they seem to have a close relationship, even brothers. (Wondering if this Samuel in Chatham County is a different one than the one in Randolph County, son of John McDaniel McDaniel-2341 and Katherine Rogers or the same.)

Also, widow of Edward Teague, Margaret "Peggy" McDaniel Teague - Edward's father was brother to Moses, father of David Teague who married Sarah McDonald/McDaniel. And Jacob Teague was brother of David Teague.

Frances Teague who married Benjamin Watts and then Samuel McDaniel was sister to Edward and Moses.

The Watts were also an allied family- Benjamin Watts and Frances Teague had a dau. Elizabeth who married Jacob here. Her sister Rebecca married a John B. McDaniel who also may be a brother (or cousin?).

There is also an Arthur McDaniel in 1790 and 1800 Censuses, with a Revolutionary War pension, born c1759, died 1836.

McDaniels on Orange County Tax List of 1755 - John McDaniel pg 5, Absalom McDaniel pg 8, Daniel McDaniel pg 8.

Working theory - John B. McDaniel b c1770, Jacob b. c1760, Peggy Teague b. c1765, Sarah McDaniel b. c 1760, Arthur b. c1759 are possibly all siblings of an unknown father (or cousins, as Samuel seems to be.) This is also what Trisha Elliot-Kashima, who has done a ton of work on Jacob and the McDaniels, also believes - see links in sources.) But who are their parents??

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Jacob by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Jacob:

Trying to find Jacob's father has been the vein of my existence for the past couple of years!! I wish I could find out who it is and just move on, but since Jacob is our last known ancestor, I'm kind of stuck! But I do not believe it was John B. and Katherine Rogers either...it seems the family is too well documented to have just never listed Jacob anywhere? I think they must have been related though, since we seem to have DNA matches to members of John B.'s family.

I feel your pain! The reason I have been all up in these McDaniels myself is because I am still looking for who my 5th ggrandmother came from (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/McDonald-19917)
Jacob is (probably) NOT the son of John McDaniel McDaniel-23412 and Katherine Rogers (but probably related as there are numerous land transactions involving same persons, in Randolph and Chatham County.)

Looking for who his parents are but there is no Jacob in the will of John McDaniel or any of the land transactions....unless someone has a source that the rest of us have not seen? (And copying from another online tree that also has no sources is not the same as a real source, much as I would LOVE to stop looking myself.)
