  • Bedford County, Virginia Deed Book 11, Page 704 (FHL Film 7846227, Image 380); This Indenture made this 24th day of January one thousand eight hundred and three; between Leroy Meador & Prudence his wife of Bedford County of the one part and Joseph Ridgeway of the other part. witnesseth the said Meador for due consideration of the sums of Seventy pounds current money of Virginia, to him in hand paid, the receipt whereof the said Meador hath acknowledged, hath granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents doth grant, bargain & sell unto the said Ridgeway, Seventy acres of land more or less lying on the north east waters of Hails Mill Creek in the county of Bedford. Beginning at Pointers in John Graves Decd line, thence on the same to a double dogwood corner on a branch, thence on the same to a white oak corner in Joseph Ridgeways line, thence on his line to white rocks one the same, thence to said Pointers. To have & to hold the said grantor land and premises with all the appurtenances to him the said Ridgeway his heirs and assigns forever, & the said Meador and wife doth by these presents covenant, grant & agree to and with the said Ridgeway his heirs and assigns that the said Meador will warrant and forever the said granted land and premises from him the said Meador h is heirs and assigns & from all other persons unto the said Ridgeway his heirs & assigns forever/ In witness whereof the said Meador & wife hath hereunto set their hands & seals the day & year above written. Leroy Meador (SEAL) Prudence Meador (SEAL) At a Court held for Bedford County at the Courthouse the 18th day of February 1803. This Indenture of bargain & Sale between Leroy Meador & Prudence his wife of the one part and Joseph Ridgeway of the other was acknowledged by the said Leroy Meador and ordered to be recorded.
