Biography
Return was born in 1801. He was the son of John Meigs and Parthenia Clendinen. He passed away in 1891. Grandfather Return is namesake of Meigs Co TN, great-uncle Josiah namesake of the GA county. Uncle Return preceded John McLean as postmaster genl, then gov. of Ohio, namesake of that OH county. Son (this profile) was Atty Genl of TN (not according to state website) until forced out by secessionists, Anecdotally, he favored declaring TN as an armed neutral state. Clerk of U S Supreme court 1863-71 (citations differ on this too).
