Jane was born in 1817.[1][2][3][4][5] She was the daughter of Thomas Melton and Sarah Gunning.

Notes

  • Find A Grave and some Family Trees has her died in 1850. But her daughter Martha was born on 1856. Jane and daughter have been verified in 1870 and 1880 Census records. Unless she passed and Josiah married another Jane. Daughter Martha was listed 1860 Census living with her older brother William, though still next door to her parents. Can not find any marriage records. Marriage date is based on birth of first child William.
