William was born in 1788. He passed away in 1843.
Note on surname: The family surname has many different spellings in official records,e.g. "Melvil"; "Melvill"; "Melvile". However the "Melville" spelling appears to be the most common. I've tried to use the name used in the birth registration in the field for last name at birth and shown the most common spelling in the current last name field.
