MRS. RHODA POMEROY PIONEER THIS COUNTY DIED AT SHIRLAND HOME

Had lived for 71 years in Winnebago County - Funeral Sunday (Special to The Morning Star)

SHIRLAND, June 2 -- Mrs. Rhoda Merrill Pomeroy, one of the pioneer settlers of Winnebago county, died at 10:30 this morning at the home of her daughter, Miss Ida Pomeroy, with whom she had made her home since the death of her husband, George Pomeroy.

Mrs. Pomeroy had lived in this county for 71 years, coming to Shirland with her parents when she was six years of age, from the stae of Maine where she was born Aug. 15, 1839. She made her home here up to the time of her death. in 1858 she was married to George Pomeroy at Beloit, Wis., her husband preceding her in death. She is survived by two sons Sumner and Alvin Pomeroy and two daughters, Miss Ida Pomeroy of Shirland and Mrs. Ora Lynn of Des Monies, Ia. Four grandchildren also survive her.

The funeral services will be held at 12:30 o'clock at the home here by Rev. Colverston of the Methodist church and at the Congregational church at 2:30, when the M. W. A. will have charge and Rev. H. M. Bannen of Rockford will officiate. Interment will be in Shirland cemetery.
