Mr. J.T. Merrill died at his resident Tuesday morning after an illness of several months. .

He was 85 years of age & had lived in this town nearly all his life. He was a member of the Primitive Baptist church. Funeral services were conducted at his home. Rev.Wilson of Glenwood officiated and internment was at Kimbro Cemetery. Mr.Merrill survived his wife Mrs. Carrie Merrill and by five daughters, Mrs.W.T. McGhee, Mrs.W.T. Robbins of Dozier, Mrs.Walter Shreeves of Indian Creek, Mrs. M. Sport of Brantley, and Mrs. A.B.Thompson of Montgomery and two sons, Mr.A. F.Merrill of Dozier and Mr. John Merrill of Montgomery. Mr. Merrill was a Confederate Soldier who was wounded in the battle but never called on the Government for any support. He depended mainly an his own resources..
