John Merritt, born 14 Dec 1623 in Tenterden, Kent, England, was the son of Henry Merritt.[1] He was able to bear arms in 1643 in Scituate. John was the administrator of his father's will, and occupied his homestead after his death.[2]
John married Elizabeth Wyborne on Mar 2, 1655, the daughter of Thomas Wyborne and Elizabeth. They had the following children:[2]
Ichabod Born March 1655
Deborah Born 1656 & died before 1677
John Born 17 Febuary 1661 & died 5 June 1740

His inventory was taken on 15 March 1676/77. Elizabeth made oath to the truth of the inventory on 5 June 1677. A list of their children is at the end of the inventory with their ages.[3]
In 1713, with the estate still not settled, his son John was granted a letter of administration to settle the estate.[4]

Is there a reason his mother was recently detached? There are few sources regarding Henry Merritt's wife, but it certainly stands to reason that whoever she was, she was his children's mother.
