Biography
When Lascelle Jean Meserve[1] was born on October 16, 1890, in Seattle, Washington,[2] her father, Harry, was 23, and her mother, Ella, was 23. Just after her mother's death, while still in Paris, she married Nicolas DeBasily (1883–1963) on October 19, 1919; he was serving as the counselor of the Russian Embassy in Paris. She died on February 9, 1989,[3] in Manhattan, New York, at the age of 98, and was buried in Owings Mills, Maryland.[4]
