Emeric Clarence was born November 25, 1922, at Mt. Carmel, ND, to Severius and Lucy (Perius) Metzger. He was educated in Mt. Carmel, Moscow Township and in Wales, ND. Emeric joined the CCC and worked in a CCC Camp at Larimore, ND, before entering the United States Army. He served in the US Army from February 1944 to 1946. Emeric earned a Purple Heart while serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theater, where he was hospitalized for one month after being wounded in Okinawa. He returned to the Langdon area and began work with Cavalier Rural Electric in February of 1947. He was a lineman, line superintendent and an electrician for REA, retiring in December of 1984. Emeric was united in marriage to Patricia Schneider on June 19, 1947, at St. Michael's Church in Wales, ND. They became the loving parents of four children. After retirement, they enjoyed over twenty years of wintering in Mesa, AZ. Emeric was a member of the American Legion Post #98, the VFW, Langdon Eagles, St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and was a past Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus.
