Timothy was born in 1840 in Liverpool Twp, Medina County, Ohio to George William Emmanuel Metzger and Mary Diana Hickson, German immigrants. Timothy enlisted in the 103rd OVI on 9 Aug 1862 at age 22. He was promoted to Corporal on 12 Jan 1863 and then promoted to Sergeant 1 Mar 1865. He mustered out with the company on 12 Jun 1865. In 1869 he married Maria Rudd in Medina County. Timothy contributed the chapter "Battle of Resaca" in the Personal Reminiscences and Experiences By members of the ONE HUNDRED AND THIRD OHIO VOLUNTEER INFANTRY, Campaign Life in the Union Army from 1862 to 1865. Timothy and Maria had five children. Timothy was a harness maker by trade. He passed away in 1920 in Wellington.
