Albert Midlane was born in Carisbrooke, Hampshire on 23 January 1825. He was the son of James Midlane and Fanny Laws. [1]

Albert married Miriam Grainger on 20 March 1851. Their marriage was registered on the Isle of Wight in the first quarter of 1851[2].
Albert died in Newport, Isle of Wight on 27 February 1909. His death was registered on the Isle of Wight in the first quarter of 1909[3].
Residence
On 6 June 1841 in Union Street, Carisbrooke, Isle of Wight, with his brother John Midlane aged 38, his mother Fanny Midlane, his brother Egbert Midlane aged 19 and also Jane Marshall aged 25. [4]
Hymns
Albert wrote several hundred hymns, most notably "There's a Friend for Little Children". [5]
