Mary M. Hinton, 87 of Morehead City Passed awaySaterday Feb 3 2018 at her home surrounded by her family. A memorial service open house is from 1 to 4 pm Saterdayat the Ekklesia Community Building (where she lived) in Morehead City.

She was born on Feb. 18 1930 in Rock Hill, SC to the late Mary Daniels Willis of Morehead City, and Joseph Allen Miller of Rock Hill. The family moved permanently To Morehead City when Mary Allen when she was six years old She graduated from Morehead City High School in 1948, and she lived in her home on Evans St. on the edge of the Promise Land for 54 years. Mary Allen spent the last 121/2 years of her life at Ekklesia in Morehead City. important people in her life where her great-uncle and aunt E.C. (uncle Gene) and aunt Ethel Oglesby Willis and their children and all of their grandchildren . They were her family after her father died suddenly in 1939. Her mother Mary D. passed away in 1949 after long illness . Mary Allen always said she thought Carteret County was the most beautiful place on Earth and did not want to live any place else . Mary Allen worked for many years at Dee Gee]s Gifts and books on the Morehead City Waterfront, going back to the days when D.G. Bell still owned the store, and then at Belk when the store was still located at the Morehead Plaza. For the last 20 years she volunteer at Marth's Mission and in 2011 she received the Governor's Award for distinguished service. In the late 90.s she and her sister wrote and published 3 cookbooks as the "The Cooking Ladies: Thousands of her books were sold in gifts shops and museums up and down the NC coast.

She left behind are her twu children Joanna Broadhurst of Newport and Charles K. "Kenny: Broadhurst Jr. of the Loire Valley in France; granddaughter Charleigh Matice and husband Mark of Newport NC, three great-granddaughters Alana, Carleigh and Ruby, niece Ginger Olsoon Wade and nephew, Thomas Anton Olsson both of Newport NC.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Charles Kenneth Btoadhurst of Morehead City and second husband , Quentine P. Hinton of Spring Hope. Both died in 1990. Her sister Ann Miller Olsson of Newport and passed away in 2015.

The 1940 US census show her age 10 and sister Ann her age 3 living with Eugene C Willis (Grand-niece) at 1401 Arendell St. Morehead City.
