Biography

describe the image
Native of Louisiana

Jean Miller was likely born in 1775 or before as his marriage record does not indicate he is a minor. His marriage records, cited below, give his parents' names as Jacob Miller and Anne Marie Theissen. Some genealogists show his name as Jean Baptiste, although he didn't appear to go by that name in his church records.[1]

He wed Marie Francoise Mayer on 19 January 1796 in Opelousas, Louisiana.[2]

After his first wife died, he married Marie Magdeleine Boutin on 15 April 1816 in Opelousas, St Landry Parish.[3]

He had children with both spouses. The children of his first marriage that were still living at the time are listed in Marie Francoise Mayer's succession. [4]

Jean died sometime before the 9 December 1850 US Census, which shows his wife as a widow.[5]

However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Jean:
