Jean Miller was likely born in 1775 or before as his marriage record does not indicate he is a minor. His marriage records, cited below, give his parents' names as Jacob Miller and Anne Marie Theissen. Some genealogists show his name as Jean Baptiste, although he didn't appear to go by that name in his church records.[1]
After his first wife died, he married Marie Magdeleine Boutin on 15 April 1816 in Opelousas, St Landry Parish.[3]
He had children with both spouses. The children of his first marriage that were still living at the time are listed in Marie Francoise Mayer's succession. [4]
Jean died sometime before the 9 December 1850 US Census, which shows his wife as a widow.[5]
Known Children of First Marriage
Marie Victoire Miller, baptized 5 February 1797 & wed Joseph Bergeau on 15 Jan. 1811.
Jean Miller fils, twin to Jacques, born 1 February 1799 and married Marie Louise "Elise" Taylor on 26 May 1818.
Jacques Miller, twin to Jean fils, born 1 February 1799[6] and apparently not living at time of his mother's succession.[4]
