David "Millar" was born about 1829 and was baptised in Watten, Caithness, on 15 November 1829.[1]
In 1851 David was living in Whitefield, in the parish of Thurso, with his father and some of his siblings: Alexander, Donald, Ann, Isabella, Elizabeth and Margaret. David's trade was "farmer's son".[2]
