Biography

John was born about 1841. He is the son of William Mills and Mary Cook [1].

Marriage

John MILLS, full age, bachelor, tailor, s/o William, labourer, married Mary Ann (WALKER) Mills, spinster, d/o Issac, labourer, on 10 May 1863 in Guisborough. Witnesses to the marriage were Robert Dunn & William Darnton [2]. At the time of their marriage, John would have been approximately 23-years-old. In 53 years of marriage, John and Mary Ann had seven children together.

Whitby Gazette May 16, 1913 - Mr. and Mrs. John Mills, of Chapel House, Westgate, Guisborough, celebrated their Golden Anniversary on Saturday. They were married 10 May, 1863, at Guisborough Parish Church, and have lived, ever since, at Guisborough. Mr. Mills was employed as a tailor until a few years ago, and worked for one firm for thirty-seven years. [3]

John Mills (75) was buried in 1916 [19]. His burial is located in the Guisborough Cemetery, Guisborough, Redcar and Cleveland Unitary Authority, North Yorkshire, England. According to the General Registers Office, the primary cause of his death was cardiac decay, contributed to by senile decay. The informant of his death was M. E. Mill, his daughter [20].
