The birth of George Robert Milner was registered at Driffield in Yorkshire early in 1887. [1] Born in Kilham he was a son of Annie Elizabeth Milner and a father as yet un-identified.
In 1891 he was living with his grandparents, labourer John Milner and his wife, Hariot Brian. [2]
He was killed on the Somme on the 16th of September 1916 aged 29 and has no known grave. He is memorialised at the Thiepval Memorial, and in the churchyard of Kilham All Saints. [3]
