Jeremiah was born about 1730. He was the son of John Mizell and Margaret Miller. Jeremiah was appointed guardian of the four youngest children of Moses Lassiter in 1767. Of note, Moses named sons Jeremiah and Timothy, which along with the guardianship suggests some kinship with Jeremiah Mizell.
