Biography

Jacob Bernelot Moens was born 18 Jan 1796 in Holland to Simon Bernelot Moens and Anna de Prill.

Jacob (age 29, Merchant) arrived in England from Rotterdam on 26 Oct 1826.

Jacob Bernelot Moens married Susan Baker Wright on 19 Mar 1829 at Saint Michael Paternoster, London.[1]

Jacob and Susan had nine children: Anna Rosalie Moens (1830-), Louis Henry Combauld Moens (1831-), William John Charles Moens (1833-1904), Seaburne May Moens (1835-1881), Walter Francis George Moens (1837-1837), Emily Maria Fanny Moens (1839-), Arthur F Moens (1840-), Alice Susan Mary Moens (1848-), and Constance Matilda Moens (1854-).

In 1841 Jacob Moens (40, Merchant) lived at Stamford Hill (St John Hackney) with his wife "Luse" (30) and six children: Anna (11), Louis (9), Wm (7), Seabron (6), Emily (2), and Arthur (9 months).

In 1851 Jacob B Moens (age 54, Merchant) lived at Old Terrace in Hackney with his wife S B (42) and seven children: Anna R (21), Louis C (19, Merchant Clerk), William J C (17, Stockbrokers Clerk), Seaburne J C (16, Scholar), Emily F (11, Scholar at Home), Arthur F (10, Scholar), and Alice S M (2), as well as three servants: Harriet Collet (44, Nurse), Elizabeth Knightly (44, Cook), and Mary Dew (28, Housemaid).[2]

Jacob Bernelot Moens passed away on 19 Jul 1856, aged 60 years. His death was registered in Tunbridge Wells, Kent in the third quarter of the year.[3] An obituary was published in the Sussex Advisor on 29 Jul 1856.[4]
