Biography

Daniel was born probably in Murroe, Co. Limerick between 1835 and 1843. [1] Although no baptism record, sure this is a son of Jeremiah Moloney for following reasons:

  • John Wixted, son of Mary (Moloney) Wixted, mentions a Dan in his history that matches this Dan's marriage: "My uncle Dan married a Miss Walton and is the grandfather of Katty Moloney of Fiddane.... Dan was a business man got all his sisters married gave them small fortunes two near Castleconnell and one to Frank David of Knocknagurtneey (*)"
  • Dan has children Jeremiah and Ellen, obviously named after his parents
  • In the 1901 census, he is living with niece and nephew who are definitely children of Ellen (Moloney) Davis, daughter of Jeremiah Moloney (proved by DNA)

Dan married Catherine Walton in 1862. Seems to have been financially successful, enough to support two sisters as described above; in censuses he is described as a farmer. He died in Fiddane (aka Cully), Newport, Co. Tipperary in 1931.
