Harry remained in Montreal when his father and brother went to Oregon in 1877 - he was attending McGill University at the time. His uncle John HR Molson then offered him the chance to study in Europe, then join Molsons Bank on his return.
He had booked a passage to return to Canada on the SS Tunisian, but major Arthur Peuchen convinced him to stay longer in England and to travel home with him on the Titanic.
He was last seen on the Titanic, when he took off his shoes and claimed he wanted to swim towards lights he had seen.
He is reported to have been a survivor of the wreck of the Scotsman in 1899, where he was saved by a lifeboat. He also apparently survived the sinking of the Canada by swimming to the shore.
