Orra Monnette is Notable.

Orra Eugene Monnette was an attorney, author and banker. He was the founder of the Bank of America, Los Angeles. Orra was born in 1873.^[1]

Eugene, son of Mervin J. Monnet & Olive A. Huse, was born on 12 April 1873 in Dallas, Crawford, Ohio.^[2] In the 1880 census Orra (age 7) was the son of M. J. Monnette in Dallas, Crawford, Ohio, United States.^[3]

Orra married Carrie Lucille Janeway, 11 years his senior, on 6 November 1895 in Franklin County, Ohio.^[4]

Orra became a Life Member in the Sons of the American Revolution in 1907.^[5] In the 1910 census O (age 37), Lawyer, was the married head of household in Los Angeles Assembly District 75, Los Angeles, California, United States.^[6] Orra applied for a passport on 23 May 1910 in Los Angeles, California, intending to travel with his wife Lucile J. Monnette for no more than four months.^[7] Carrie embraced the teachings of Victoria Woodhull and the concept of "Free Love." They later divorced.

Orra married Helen Marie Kull in 1917. He registered for the draft on 17 September 1918 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California. He lived with his wife Helen in the newly built Garden Court Apartments, a Beaux Arts building considered "the last word in Hollywood high-style living."^[1] He was the president of Citizens Trust and Savings Bank of Los Angeles.^[8] In the 1920 census Orra (age 46), President, was the married head of household in Los Angeles Assembly District 63, Los Angeles, California.^[9] Orra applied for a passport on 20 July 1922 in Los Angeles, California. He planned to travel on banking business to China, Japan, and Hong Kong.^[10] Oddly, their marriage was announced in The Pittsburgh Gazette on 4 October 1925.^[11]

Orra traveled with his wife Helen and 14-year-old daughter Helen from Quebec, Canada, on the ship Empress of Britain, and arrived in Southampton, England, on 8 August 1935. They left their contact address as Bank of America, London.^[12] They sailed from Cherbourg, France. on the Europa on 21 September 1935 and arrived on 26 September 1935 in New York. Their home was at 350 South Oxford Avenue in Wilshire Center, Los Angeles.^[13]

Orra Monnette died on 23 February 1936.^[14][15] He was buried in Inglewood Park Cemetery, Inglewood, Los Angeles County, California, United States.^[16]
