Biography

T. D. [sic] Montgomery, of the firm of Andrews & Montgomery, dealers in lu mber, Blue Springs, was born in Boyle County, Kentucky, February 29, 183 6, and the following fall his parents moved to Jackson County, where he w as reared. When nineteen years old he returned to Kentucky, where he rema ined ona farm one year, part of the time attendending school; he also lear ned the carpenter's trade, which he has since principally followed. In t he fall of 1862, he went to Quincy, Illinois, and in the spring of 18 63 to Nebraska City, where he remained till the close of the War. While t here he was engaged at his trade and dealing in lumber, being of the fi rm of Montgomery & Brown. In March, 1879, he began in the lumber tra de in Blue Springs, shipping the first freight over the Chicago & Alton Ra ilroad west of Higginsville. Mr. Montgomery was married October 2, 185 8, to Miss Susan E. Gibson, of Jackson County, Missouri.
