Note H37Margaret was always known as Maggie -- only on Bruce's pension materials where she fills in her own name have I seen "Margaret". Maggie and her husband James Smith cared for Bruce in his last years in Long Beach, CA. They apparently received a reimbursement from the Bureau of Pensions (Bruce received a Civil War service pension) for some of the costs of his care in his last days. These were monies that Pensions normally reimbursed to pensioners for physician, medicine, x-rays, undertaker, and cemetery costs.

Death certificate shows father as Bruce Moody. Maggie died at County Harbor General Hospital in Long Beach. The informant was Phil Smith of 4032 Fountain Street, Long Beach.
