John Moon was born about 1805 in Tennessee, and married Perlina Haggard around or before 1825 when their oldest child is born.
This John Moon who settled in Missouri is almost certainly the son of Jasper Moon (abt.1786-1853), and not John Moon and Susannah Parrott who remained in Sevier County, TN.
Jasper Moon was born in PA, owned land in Sevier County, TN, and eventually settled in Morgan County, MO. In 1854, John Moon is listed as an heir in Jasper's estate settlement, which states that John received his portion of the assets in the lifetime of his father. [1]
By 1850, John and Perlina and their family moved to Morgan County, MO, where Jasper Moon and his other children live. The 1850 census has John and Perlina with eight children: James, Jasper, Martin, Mary, William, Daniel, Noah, and Martha Jane. [2]
All of the children list Tennessee as a birth location except 2 year old Martha, who lists Missouri. This implies John and Perlina moved to MO from TN between 1844 and 1848.
In 1860, John and Perlina again appear on the Morgan Co census with two additional younger children, McA (Mack or McConnell) and Harvey.[3]
There are at least two men named John Moon born in Sevier County Tennessee around 1800.
Wikitree profile William Moon (1838-) appears to be the son of John Moon and Perlina Haggard. He married Martha C. (Hatfield) Moon (1842-1922). This should be confirmed with other sources.

Do you have any sources for this other than FamilySearch? I see so much incorrect info there that I don't consider it a reliable source. There are several John Moons born at this time in Sevier. We think that the husband of Perlina Haggard may be the son of Jasper Moon (1786) who moves with John and Perlina to Missouri and appears there in the 1850 census. Jasper may be brother/cousin to John (1774), but those relationships are the brick wall we've been working on for 20+ years.
