In 1850 John and Rachel were living with his parents James and Nancy Moore in Dagsborough Hd., Sussex Co. Delaware with their children Joseph H Moore 7, Washington Moore 5, and Woolsey Moore 2.[2]
In the 1860 Census John was head of house with wife Rachel and 4 children living in Dagsboro Hundred, P.O. Hall's Store (now Ocean View)

John Moore died before 1870, based on the fact that John was not with his family in the 1870 Census of Dagsboro Hundred, Sussex which shows John's wife Rachel and their 4 children in household of Henry Moore, John and Rachel's oldest son.
