Biography

1st Power of attorney provided on 10/7/1822 by Unicy Moore, widow of Caleb Moore deceased along with his lawful heirs, i.e., Benjamin Moore, William Moore, John Moore, William Raulerson on behalf of his wife Elizabeth (Moore) Raulerson and Thomas Nobles on behalf of his wife Lovey (Moore) Nobles prepared a power of attorney appointing Reddick Knox of Pitt County to act on their behalf in connection with the Estate of John Moore, deceased now in the hands of Moses Moore. Witnesses to the signatures of Benjamin Moore, John Moore and William Raulerson from Appling County Joseph Dyal, J.P, Anderson Gillette and Jabez Dowling J.P.

2nd power of attorney provided by 8/4/1837 Power of Attorney from Benjamin Moore et al to Willoughby Cooper.

Wayne County Georgia: Know all men by these presents that we and each of us of the county of Wayne and State aforesaid to wit, Benjamin More, William More, Levicey Rutledge formerly Levicy Nobles, John Moore, the legal and lawful heirs of Caleb Moore formerly of Pitt County, North Carolina for divers good causes and consideration we hereunto moving have made ordained and appointed and by these presents do make ordain and appoint Willouby Cooper of the County of Wayne and State of Georgia our true and lawful attorney for us and in our name for our own proper use and benefit to ask demand sue for receive and recover all the negroes lands rights and claims or so so much thereof as we the legal heirs of Caleb More are entitled to in and of the Estate of Chloe Moore and Hannah Moore dec'd in Pitt County, North Carolina. To have and to hold use and take all lawful ways and means in our names or otherwise and to compound and agree for the same and acquittances or other sufficient receipts and discharges for the same for us and in our names to make seal and deliver, and to do all other lawful acts and things whatsoever concerning the premises as fully and in every respect as we ourselves might or could do were we personally present at the doing thereof and one or more attorneys under him for the purposes aforesaid to make and again at his pleasure to revoke ratifying and confirming and by these presents allowing whatsoever our said attorney shall in our name lawfully do or cause to be done in and about the premises by virtue of these presents in Witness Whereof we have hereunto set our hands and affixed our seals this the twenty fourth day of August in the year one thousand eight hundred and thirty seven. Georgia Wayne County: I Robert B Willson Clerk of the superior court of said county do hereby certify that Pliney Sheffield whose name appears to the withing letter of attorney as a witness is an acting Judge of the Inferior Court of said county and that full faith and credit ought and should be given to his attestations as such and that the same is in due form. Given under my hand and seals there being no public seal in the county 6th November A.D. 1837. Rob. B. Willson Clk.
