Biography

Evan Morgan was born about 1762 in Augusta (later Monongalia) County, Virginia, the third or fourth of sixteen children and the oldest of nine sons of Zackquill and Drusilla Springer Morgan.

Born about 1766 in , Augusta (later Monongalia) County, Colony and Dominion of Virginia

On 15 October 1788, when he was in his mid-twenties, he married Abigail Netherton. She bore him eight known children, four sons and four daughters:

6. Mary Morgan
7. Abigail Morgan
8. Charles Morgan

In 1821, when he was about fifty-eight, Evan died of unknown causes in Saline County, Missouri

RESEARCH: Other early Greene Co. marriages include: Lettice Morgan to William Henderson 4 Jun e 1792, Security: Thomas Morgan. Lewis Morgan to Mary Evans 7 Mar 1792. Sally Morgan to Isaac Prather (no date). William Henderson laters appears in Daviess Co., MO with the Morgan fam ily. BIOGRAPHY: Evan Morgan served in the War of 1812, living in Cocke Co., TN at the time. In 1817, Evan and his wife moved to MO, in the area of Saline Co. (organized 1820). By 1821, their children appear on a tax list for Ray Co., MO, but Evan Morg an does not appear on the list. Missouri newspapers list Evan Morgan as having unclaimed mai l in 1819, 1821 and 1822; this suggests he may have been dead by this time. RESEARCH: Is there a relationship to the couple Evan Morgan & Elizabeth Bradbury of DE? Research needed here. Bradbury was a common middle name in this family.
