April 17 1914 Saffron Walden Weekly News WOMAN DIES OF APOPLEXY. Inquest at Swaffham Bulbeck. An inquest was held at Swaffham Bulbeck on Friday evening by Mr. A. J. Lyon, the County Coroner, on the body of Lilian | Missen wife of Cephas Missen an engine driver, of Swaffham, whese Geath dccurred from apoplexy on Friday morning. Cephas Missen said that he last saw his wife alive a 6 a.m: that day, when she was still in bed, and appeared the same as usual. She had been subject to fits all her life, and had been in London and Cambridge Hospitals for them. The nine-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Missen said he was sleeping with his mother on Thursday night. When his father left on Friday morning mother was well. Witness went to sleep again, and when he woke up his mother was dead. She was lying face downwards. Witness told his sister.

James Rolph, bricklayer, of Swaffham Bulbeck, said he went to the house and saw Mrs. Nizsen lying with her head on the floor and her legs on the bed. Her mouth was close to the boards. He found she was dead, and turned her over. She was cold.

Dr. Ennion, of Burwell, said that at 11.30 he was called to deceased, and found her dead and almost cold. He made a post mortem, and found the cause of death was apoplexy, due to a clot of blood on the right side of the brain. There was no evi- dence of suffocation. She was probably dead when she fell off the bed.

The jury returned a verdict of "Death from apoplexy in a natural way." [2]
