Martha M Morgan was born to John A. (a farmer in the Washington District) and Alice Morgan on 17 Jul 1887 in the Washington District of Westmoreland County, Virginia.[1][2]
In 1900 Martha Bell lives in Colonial Beach (according to FamilySearch indexing) in the Washington District of Westmoreland County with her family. Her father John A owns his farm free and clear. Her father and her brothers work it. Everyone was born in Virginia and everyone can read and write. Her 9-year-old cousin Robert Gutridge lives there, too. All five of her mother's children are still living, and they're all at home in this census.[3]
On December 17, 1907, at the age of 20, Martha Belle Morgan marries Richard Madison Washington, 32, farmer, in Westmoreland County, Virginia. They were both born in and live in Westmoreland county and they are both single. Martha's parents are John A and Alice V Morgan and Richard's parents are George T and Sophia Washington.[4][5][6]
In 1910 Martha B and Richard M are living on a general farm they own with their first two children Gordon and Nellie and Richard's widowed mother Sophia. [7]
In 1920 Bell M is a widow with six children at home and her brother Calvin is listed as a hired man. They're living on the farm she owns.[8]
In 1930 Belle M is still on the farm with her six children, her niece Virginia Morgan, and her father John A who is a widower. [9]
In 1938 her daughter Effie Evelyn marries Turner Eubanks Brown in Culpepper, Virginia.[10]
In 1940 Belle is still on the farm with three sons, Gordon, Judson, and Ben. [11]
In October 1940 Belle Martha Washington is listed as his mother on John Jasper Washington's WWII Draft Registration card.?[12]
