Biography

Susan "Lydia" Morgan was born 15 September 1886 in Indian Bayou, Vermilion Parish, Louisiana to Mary "Rose Bell" Foreman and Aden Morgan^[1].

In the 1900 census^[2], she is listed as 11 years old, and living with her father, Aden Morgan (32), her stepmother, R. Monia "Money" (22), her siblings Clarence (10), Benny (8), Alfred (6), and half sister Viola (1). Her brother Ira (13) is living next door with her grandmother Susan Morgan (55).

15 July 1903 ^[3], she marries Enos Spell. They have Irene in 1904.^[4]

In 1910^[5], Lydia is listed as married for 6 years. Their household consists of Irene [incorrectly spelled Arron] (6), Ives (4), and Wilbur[n] (2).

In 1920^[6], Lydia (30) lives with Enos [Enar] (33), and their children: Irine (16), James [Aden Ives "Jim"] (14), Wilber [Julian Wilbur] (12), Bernest [Bernice Winver] (9), Earnest [Denver Ernest] (9), Joseph [Joseph Kelly] (7), Liew [Joyce Lee] (3), and Warren [Willard Warren] (3/12).

By 1930^[7], the family lived in Crowley. Lidia [Lydia] (44) and Enos[e] (45), lived with Ernest (19), Joseph (17), Joyce (12), Williard (10), Roland [Roland Evans] (8), Donald [Claude Donald] (6), Aline [Faye Aline] (5), and Doris [Doris Yvonne] (1).

In 1940^[8], Lydia [Ledia] (52) is living with her husband Enos Spell (55) in Crowley Louisiana. They have several children living at home: Willard (21), Claude (17), Faye (15), and Margie (Doris?) (11). Living with them is Esther Foreman (52), a lodger, who is Enos' cousin (mother's sister, Rachel Foreman's, daughter.)

In 1950, ^[9] Lidia [Lydia] (63) lived with her husband Ennis [Enos] (65).

21 May 1966, her son, Claude Donald Spell, was murdered in Port Arthur, Texas.^[10].

She passed away 19 January 1977 and is buried in Indian Bayou, Louisiana^[11].
