--on NH Continental line/pension rolls 1794-1834
-John enlisted twice in the Revolutionary War. First, in the 2nd New Hampshire Regiment, commanded by Captain Chase, at the age of 17. His second enlistment was in the 7th Company Regiment of New Hampshire Continental Line under the command of Colonel Reid. He fought in the Battle of White Plains, New York in Oct 1776 against the British and German Soldiers. It was stated in DAR applications that John also was a cook for General George Washington.
-John was the son of Micajah and Priscilla (Whittaker) Morrill. John had 2 brothers; David and Samuel. John's paternal line has been documented back to Richard Morrill, born 1566 in England, to Richards's son the first Morrill immigrant to America, Abraham Morrill, born 1586, Hatfield, Broad-Oak, Essex, England who immigrated in 1632 on the Lyon.
-John married Abigail Knight, daughter of Joseph and Sarah (Merrill) Knight, on 10 Nov 1782 in Atkinson, Rockingham, New Hampshire. They had 6 children; Joseph, Mary, Sarah, Abigail, Hannah, John and Samuel.
